Compressing The Caliper Piston:

Remove or Disconnect
1. Two-thirds of the brake fluid from master cylinder.
2. Raise vehicle and support with safety stands.
3. Mark relationship of wheel to hub.
4. Tire and wheel.
5. Position a C-clamp around outer pad and caliper. Tighten until the piston bottoms in its bore.
6. C-clamp.
7. Brake hose from caliper.

Caliper Mounting Bolts:

8. Mounting bolts.
9. Caliper assembly.
10. Bushings (3 and 4).
11. Sleeves (2).

NOTE: Inspect mounting bolts and sleeves for corrosion. Do not attempt to polish away corrosion. Replace if needed.

Install or Connect

Disc Brake Pads:

1. Lubricate sleeves (2) and bushings (3 and 4) with Delco Silicone Lube GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent.
2. Bushings (3 and 4).
3. Sleeves (2).
4. Caliper assembly.
5. Mounting bolts (1).

^ Tighten Bolts to 51 Nm (38 ft. lbs.).

6. Brake hose to the caliper.

^ Tighten bolt to 44 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).

Caliper Clearance:

^ Measure:
- The clearance between the caliper and steering knuckle.
- The clearance at each end of the caliper should be measured individually and added together.
- The total should be 0.26 to 0.60 mm (0.010 to 0.024 inch).

7. Tire and wheel.
8. Lower the vehicle.

CAUTION: Before moving the vehicle, pump the brake pedal several times to make sure it is firm. Do not move the vehicle until a firm pedal is obtained. Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder alter pumping the brakes.
