Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

SCAN TOOL DIAGNOSIS
The Tech 2 scan tool displays throttle position in volts and percentage of throttle blade opening. The value should be approximately 0.6 volts with the throttle closed and ignition "ON," or at idle.

Voltage should increase at a steady rate as the throttle is moved toward Wide Open Throttle. ( 4.0 + volts).

A failure in the TP sensor will set a DTC. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Tables.
