Body - Rattle From A-Pillar Upper Fender Area

Bulletin No.: 07-08-63-004

Date: May 25, 2007

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Rattle In Upper Fender and/or A-Pillar Area (Replace or Reposition Anti-Rattle Patch)

Models:
2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
2007 Pontiac G5

Condition

Some customers may comment on a rattle in the left or right upper fender or A-pillar area.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a mispositioned or missing anti-rattle patch. This allows the fender to make contact in the A-pillar, causing a rattle.

Correction

Remove the left or right fender and install or reposition the anti-rattle patch.

Remove the fender. Refer to Front Fender Replacement in SI.

After removing the fender, clean the upper inside corner of the fender of any dirt or oils.

Measure from the edge of the fender 16 mm (0.630 in) (2) and 7 mm (0.275 in) (1) from the top edge. Remove the backing from the anti-rattle patch and place it on the fender. Apply some pressure to the patch for proper adhesion. If repositioning the patch, clean the old adhesive from the patch and apply GM Instant Gel Adhesive.

Install the fender. Refer to Front Fender Replacement in SI.
