Shift Interlock Cable: Service and Repair

SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
2. Remove instrument panel lower silencer panel.





3. Remove inflatable knee blocker (Fig. 339).





4. Disconnect shift interlock cable connector (Fig. 340).





5. Place ignition key in the ACC position (Fig. 341).





6. Disconnect shift interlock cable from ignition cylinder (Fig. 342).





7. Remove gearshift knob (Fig. 343).





8. Remove gearshift bezel (Fig. 344).





9. Remove PRNDL surround bezel (Fig. 345).





10. Remove center console assembly (Fig. 346).





11. Disconnect shift interlock cable from shift mechanism as shown in (Fig. 347).

INSTALLATION





1. Verify that ignition key is in ACC position (Fig. 348).





2. Install shift interlock cable to ignition cylinder (Fig. 349). Secure cable to instrument panel at retainer.
3. Connect shift interlock cable connector (Fig. 349).
4. Route shift interlock cable towards shift mechanism.





5. Connect interlock cable core to shift mechanism cam, and then secure cable housing to shift mechanism (Fig. 350).
6. Adjust interlock cable.





7. Install center console assembly (Fig. 351).





8. Install PRNDL surround bezel (Fig. 352).





9. Install gearshift bezel (Fig. 353).





10. Install gearshift knob (Fig. 354). Torque setscrew to 2 Nm (20 inch lbs.).
