6A Check Primary Ignition System For Fault Codes


1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine, then enter system into diagnostic Mode and record all codes. Fault codes must always begin with a Code 88 and followed by a Code 55 after the last code is displayed.
2. If no fault codes are displayed, proceed to Step B.
3. If Code 21 and/or 31 (distributor pickup coil) is displayed, proceed to Step E.
4. If Code 88 is not displayed, proceed to Step J.
