Vehicle Speed Sensor/Transducer - Cruise Control: Testing and Inspection


1. Disconnect speed sensor wire harness connector.
2. Connect voltmeter to connector terminal using low AC scale.
3. Raise rear wheels of vehicle and support with suitable jack stands. Eagle must be in two wheel drive mode.
4. Start engine and, with rear wheels spinning freely, bring to 30 mph and note voltage. Voltage should be 0.9 volt with an increase in voltage of 0.1 volt for each 10 mph increase in speed.
5. Stop engine, disconnect voltmeter and slowly halt rear wheels. Replace speed sensor if defective.
