Oil Charge Additions

DELCO AIR 4 CYLINDER RADIAL COMPRESSOR

OIL CHARGE-COMPONENT REPLACEMENT

If there are no signs of excessive leakage, add the following amount of oil depending on component to be replaced.
- Evaporator - 3 ounces
- Condenser - 1 ounce

If accumulator or compressor are to be replaced, drain oil from component to be replaced and measure, then add same amount of new oil to replacement component plus one additional ounce. The radial 4 cylinder compressor does not have an oil sump.

OIL CHARGE-LEAK CONDITION

On models with radial 4 cylinder compressor, it will only be necessary to remove and drain and measure oil from accumulator assembly in cases of excessive oil leakage. The radial 4 cylinder compressor does not have an oil sump, therefore it is not necessary to remove compressor in cases of oil leakage. If amount of oil recovered is 2 ounces or more, add same amount of new refrigerant oil to system. If amount of oil recovered is less than 2 ounces, add two ounces of new refrigerant oil to system. If accumulator is replaced one additional ounce of oil must be added to replace amount captured by desiccant in old accumulator.
