Perform the ``Ignition Coil Primary Circuit Test'' before performing this test.
1. Disconnect two wire connector from control unit and connect a voltmeterbetween terminal ``F2'' and ground, Figs. 1 and 2. Turn ignition``On''. If voltmeter reading is within .2 volts of battery voltage, replace control unit and proceed to Step 3. If voltmeter reading is not within .2 volt of battery voltage, proceed to next step.
2. Locate and repair cause of voltage reduction as noted in Step 1. Checkfor a corroded dash connector or defective ignition switch. Then, checkfor spark at coil wire. If not, replace control unit.
3. Connect the two wire connector at control unit and disconnect the fourwire connector from control unit. Connect an ammeter between terminal``C1'' and ground, Figs. 1 and 2. If ammeter reading is 1 ± .1 amp., the system is satisfactory. If ammeter reading is higher or lower, replacemodule.
