Motorcraft Solid State Ignition System

1. Inspect ignition coil for oil leaks, exterior damage and carbon tracks. If satisfactory, proceed to Step 2. If not, replace ignition coil.
2. Disconnect ignition coil connector and connect ohmmeter between coil terminals. If resistance is 1.13-1.23 ohms at 75° F or 1.5 ohms at 200° F, proceed to Step 3. If not, replace ignition coil.
3. Connect ohmmeter between ignition coil center tower and the plus or minus terminal. Resistance should be 7700-9300 ohms. If not replace ignition coil.
