Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect air flow sensor connectors.
2. Measure resistance between terminals as follows:
a. On 1989 models less turbocharger measure resistance between terminals 4 and 6.
b. On 1989 turbo models, measure resistance between terminals 6 and 8.
3. On all models, ohmmeter should indicate the following values:
a. At 32°F, ohmmeter should indicate 6000 ohms.
b. At 68°F, ohmmeter should indicate 2700 ohms.
c. At 176°F, ohmmeter should indicate 400 ohms.
4. If resistance values are not as specified, or resistance values do not change with temperature, replace air flow sensor.
