Test 2 - Ignition Coil Testing

Coil Testing:

TESTING OF IGNITION COIL


1. Measurement of the primary coil resistance.
Disconnect the four wire coil connector and measure the resistance between the positive terminal and negative terminals of the ignition coils.
Standard value: .77 - .95 ohm

2. Measurement of the secondary coil resistance.
Measure the resistance between the ignition coil's high-voltage terminals.
Standard value: 10.3 - 13.9 k-ohm


3. If primary and secondary coil resistances are not within specifications replace coil. If coil resistances are within specifications check power transistor.
