Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

Triple Pressure Switch Testing:

1. Disconnect the triple pressure switch connector.
2. Using a jumper wire, connect the high/low terminals on the wiring harness.
3. Connect an ohmmeter to the pressure switch terminals as shown.
4. Install a manifold gauge set to the high side service port.
5. Operate the air conditioning system and check for switch continuity at the specified pressure.

High/Low Pressure Side:

High/Low Side
PRESSURE INCREASING OHMMETER READING
33 PSI Continuity
384 PSI No continuity

PRESSURE DECREASING OHMMETER READING
299 PSI Continuity
30 PSI No continuity

Medium Pressure Side:

Medium Pressure Side
PRESSURE INCREASING OHMMETER READING
256 PSI Continuity

PRESSURE DECREASING OHMMETER READING
213 PSI No continuity


6. If there is no continuity, replace the switch.
