Wheel Speed Sensor: Testing and Inspection

1. Ensure clearance between wheel speed sensor and the rotor is 0.012-0.035 inch.
2. Raise and support vehicle and release parking brake.

3. Disconnect ABS ECU harness connector and measure from the harness side of connector.
4. Rotate wheel to be measured at approximately 1/2 to 1 rotation per second and check output voltage using a circuit tester. Ensure voltage indicated is 70 mV or more.
5. If voltage is lower than specified, inspect the following:
a. Excessive clearance between wheel speed sensor pole piece and the rotor.
b. Faulty wheel speed sensor.
6. Adjust or replace as necessary.
