VALVE GUIDES REPLACE
1. Press old valve guide from cylinder head toward lower surface using special valve guide tool and press.
2. Ream each valve guide bore in cylinder head to O.D. of replacement valve guide, Fig. 6. Never use a valve guide of same size as removed guide.
3. Install new valve guides using special valve guide and stopper tools and press. Intake valve guide length is 1.732 inches and exhaust valve guide length is 1.949 inches; as a result, they are not interchangeable.
4. After installation of new valve guides, insert valve and ensure it slides freely, then check for proper clearance. If clearance is not correct, ream valve guide until proper clearance is obtained.
