General Safety Precautions

Always wear safety glasses when servicing an air bag equipped vehicle or when handling an air bag module.

Because this system is a sensitive, complex electro-mechanical unit, before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any air bag system component, you must first disarm air bag system. Refer to Disarming & Arming of Air Bag System under Service and Repair.

The fasteners, screws and bolts used for air bag components have special coatings and are specifically designed for air bag system. They must not be replaced with substitutes. If fastener replacement is required, use correct fasteners provided in service package.

Ensure no one is inside vehicle when air bag system is armed. Refer to Disarming & Arming of Air Bag System under Service and Repair.
