KEEP ALIVE MEMORY (KAM) - A series of vehicle battery-powered memory locations in the microprocessor which allows the microprocessor to store input failures identified during normal operation for use in later diagnostic routines and adopts some calibration parameters to compensate for changes in the vehicle system.

Knock Sensor:

KNOCK SENSOR (KNK) (KS) - A piezoelectric accelerometer designed to resonate at approximately the same frequency its the engine knock frequency and provide this information to the processor.
