Wiper Gear Box: Service and Repair

Windshield Wiper Linkage Replace:

Fig. 10 Windshield wiper linkage replace. Tempo & Topaz:

1. Remove wiper arm and blade assemblies from pivot shaft.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove clip and disconnect linkage drive arm from motor crank pin.
3. On Tempo and Topaz models, remove top grille from left and right cowl, then the pivot to cowl attaching screws.
4. On Escort, EXP, LN7 and Lynx models, remove pivot shaft retaining nuts.
5. On all models, remove linkage and pivots from cowl chamber, Figs. 9 and 10.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
