Whenever an idle emissions test is performed, the following procedure should be performed to assure ac- curate measurements are obtained:

* The engine must be at normal operating temperature and the cooling system pressurized.
* Precede any idle emissions measurement by turning off ignition, restarting and operating engine at 2500 RPM for 30 seconds.
* Finally, measure idle emission within 30 seconds after returning engine speed to idle.
