Emission Control Systems: Adjustments

V6-232 W/2150 OR 7200 CARBURETOR

NOTE: Refer to Tune Up Specifications chart for curb and fast idle speeds.

1. Place transmission into Neutral or Park.
2. Connect a tachometer onto engine as per manufacturer's instructions.
3. Start and allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
4. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose from EGR valve.
5. On except California models with 2150 model carburetor, disconnect and plug vacuum hose from purge valve.
6. On California Granada and Cougar models with model 7200 carburetor, disconnect and plug vacuum hose from triple vacuum switch.
7. Check fast idle speed obtained. If fast idle speed obtained is not as specified, turn adjusting screw until specified speed is obtained.
