Starter No-Load Test
Fig. 5 Starter no-load test connections:
Perform this test on test bench after removing starter from vehicle.
1. Make test connections as shown, Fig. 5.
2. Ensure that no current is flowing through ammeter, then determine exact reading on voltmeter.
3. Disconnect starter from battery, then reduce resistance of rheostat until voltmeter indicates same reading as when motor was running. Ammeter should read less than 180 amps.
