Wiper Motor: Service and Repair

FRONT

1. Cycle windshield wipers until they are in straight up position, then turn ignition off.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines).
3. Remove right hand wiper arm and blade assembly and the pivot nut. Allow linkage to drop into cowl.
4. Remove linkage access cover from right hand side of dash panel.
5. Release wiper motor retaining clip, Fig. 6, then slide clip back until it clears nib on crank pin, and remove the clip. The wiper motor retaining clip can be reached through the access cover opening.
6. Remove wiper linkage from motor crank pin.
7. Disconnect electrical connector from wiper motor, then remove motor attaching screws and the motor.
8. Reverse procedure to install.

REAR

1. Disconnect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines).
2. Remove wiper arm and blade assembly.
3. Remove pivot shaft attaching nut, washer and pivot block, Fig. 7.
4. Remove liftgate inner trim panel, then the motor bracket attaching screw and rectangular plate.
5. Disconnect motor electrical connectors, then remove motor assembly.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
