Starter Motor: Service and Repair

EXC. DIESEL ENGINES
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Disconnect starter cable from starter.
4. Remove starter motor attaching bolts, then disconnect ground cable and lower starter from vehicle.
5. Reverse procedure to install..




DIESEL ENGINES

1. Disconnect ground cables from both batteries.
2. Remove air intake hose between intake manifold and air cleaner.
3. Disconnect No. 1 glow plug relay from starter and position aside.
4. Disconnect starter cables, then remove starter motor attaching bolts and the starter motor.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
