MAP SENSOR - SERVICE PART DIFFERENT THAN PRODUCTION PART - EEC IV - 2.3L HSC

When replacing a MAP sensor in the EEC IV system on 2.3L HSC the service part received may be different from the production part. The production part (old style) may be silver in color (metal) and has a round harness connector. The service part (new style) will be black in color (plastic) and has a rectangular harness connector (Figure 15). Follow the installation procedure to install the service part.
Installation Procedure

1. Remove old style (silver/metal) sensor from harness and mounting.
2. Trace harness from round connector back to a rectangular connector (4-6 inches away). This assembly is a jumper harness (Figure 15).
3. Remove jumper harness from main EEC harness and discard.
4. Mount the new style sensor (black/plastic) and connect the rectangular harness connector directly to the new MAP sensor.
