LINCOLN-MERCURY 1985 MARK VII, MARQUIS, COUGAR

Engine stalls, no starts or intermittent no start can be the result of a loose ground wire attaching screw for the electric fuel pump.

When referring to the Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual for diagnosis of this concern, the location of the ground screw may not be clear.

The following locations should be noted.

Figure 4 - MARK VII FUEL PUMP GROUND SCREW (DRIVER'S SIDE):

Mark VII:
Screw is located on the driver's side rocker, beside driver's seat (Figure 4).

Figure 5 - LTD/MARQUIS FUEL PUMP GROUND SCREW (PASSENGER SIDE):

LTD/Marquis:
Screw is located on the passenger side rocker, beside passenger seat (Figure 5).

Figure 6 - THUNDERBIRD/COUGAR FUEL PUMP GROUND SCREW (PASSENGER SIDE):

Thunderbird/Cougar:
Screw is located on floor pan, under passenger seat (Figure 6).
