Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

Intake manifold, exhaust manifold & injection pump components:

Fig. 2 Intake manifold removal:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove air inlet duct from air cleaner and intake manifold. Install cap, Fig. 2, onto intake manifold.
3. Disconnect resistor electrical connectors from glow plugs.
4. Remove breather hose from engine and upper radiator hose from thermostat housing.
5. Disconnect upper and lower coolant hoses from thermostat housing.
6. Disconnect electrical connectors from temperature sensors.
7. Remove intake manifold to cylinder head bolts, then the intake manifold.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
