EEC IV Processor - Erroneous Code 22 Found

85ford02

Article No. 85-2-6

EEC IV QUICK TEST - SERVICE CODE "22" FOUND DURING TEST
- NO DRIVE SYMPTOMS - 2.3L CFI

FORD 1985 TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1985 TOPAZ

Service code "22" may be found in the Keep-Alive Memory during the Key-on, Engine Off Quick Test even though driveability concerns are not reported. The code "22" can be erroneously generated by certain Processor Assemblies which are affected by electrical noise.

Identify the suspect processors as follows:

- Tear Tag Color: Blue
- Production Date: July 27, 1984 through October 23,1984
- Visual Appearance: Die Cast base plate instead of sheet metal

NOTE: Suspect processors must meet all the above characterstics.

Erase the EEC IV memory and run the Key-On Quick Test. If service code "22" is still present, follow 1985 diagnostic pinpoint "DF" (MAP/BP Tester). If service code "22" is gone, then ignore it. The service code was probably generated by the processor.
