Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines).
2. Turn lock cylinder key to Lock position.
3. On models equipped with tilt steering column, remove upper extension shroud by depressing top and bottom of shroud and releasing it from retaining plate on left side.
4. On all models, remove steering column trip shroud halves.
5. Disconnect electrical connector from ignition switch.
6. Drill out bolt heads from switch attaching bolts using a {1/8} inch drill, then remove bolts using an ``Easy Out'' or equivalent.
7. Disengage switch from actuator pin and remove switch from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Turn lock cylinder to Run position before installing switch.
