STEERING GEAR - PRESSURE LINES - REVISED TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS


FORD 1986 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1986 SABLE

The torque specifications published in the Taurus/ Sable Shop Manual are too high and may cause distortion to the steering gear housing. Housing distortion could cause fluid leakage or a "sticky feel" due to control valve binding.

Revised torque specifications for external pressure lines (right turn and left turn lines) are: 14-20 N-m (10- 15 ft.lbs.) at all four fittings.

TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS:

The following chart is a copy of the torque specifications on page 13-46-25 of the Taurus/Sable Shop Manual with revisions. Please note the correct torques in your 1986 Taurus/Sable Shop Manual.
