Courtesy Lamp - Inoperative

Article No. 86-19-2

LAMP - COURTESY - INOPERATIVE - NO. 8 FUSE BLOWN - VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO 4/1/86

FORD 1986 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1986 SABLE

A blown No. 8 fuse may be caused by the wiring for the L.H. and R.H. courtesy lamp switches rubbing on the sheet metal behind the cowl side trim panels. To correct this, use the following diagnostic/repair procedure.

1. Remove the L.H. and R.H. cowl side trim panels and visually check the wiring for damage.

NOTE: If the wiring is not damaged, refer to the Taurus/Sable Shop Manual for normal diagnostic/testing procedures.

2. Repair the chafed wiring and wrap them with electrical tape to prevent any further chafing. The sheet metal flange should also be taped.

3. Replace the No. 8 fuse and reinstall the cowl side trim panels.
