Fig. 36 Motorcraft FS-6 six cylinder compressor removal:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Discharge refrigerant from system.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Loosen idle pulley and remove belt from compressor pulley.
5. Lower vehicle and remove belt.
6. Remove rear mounting bolts, Fig. 36.
7. Disconnect suction and discharge hoses from compressor.
8. Disconnect the clutch lead.
9. Remove outer mounting and bracket bolts, then compressor assembly.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Use new O-rings lubricated with refrigerant oil.
11. Leak test, evacuate and charge system. Check system for proper operation.
