Control Arm: Service and Repair

TEMPO & TOPAZ
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel assembly.
3. Remove control arm to spindle nut and bolt.
4. Remove center mounting nut and bolt.
5. Remove control arm from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque control arm to body bolt to 40-55 ft. lbs., torque control arm to spindle nut to 60-86 ft. lbs. When installing new control arms the bushing with the 10 mm hole is installed toward the center of the vehicle and the bushing with the 12 mm hole toward the spindle. The offset on the control arm must face up on the right side of the vehicle and down on the left side of the vehicle, Fig. 5. The flanged edge of the control arm stamping must face the rear of the vehicle.
