CODE "17" - ERROR DURING SELF-TEST 87-22-16

ISSUE: EEC IV Quick Test service code "17" (stalls) may be displayed, in error, during self-test on vehicles with less than 100 miles (160 kilometers). This is caused by high friction produced by the engine and transmission during this 100 mile period.

ACTION: If stalling is not the symptom, ignore Service Code "17" if the vehicle has less than 100 miles. If stalling is the symptom, and Service Code "17" is present, use the Engine/Emission Diagnosis Manual, Volume H, for service.
