EGR Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Position (EVP) Sensor:

The EGR Valve Position (EVP) Sensors are equipped on California vehicles only. In compliance with California regulations, the EGR Valve Position Sensors detects EGR Valve malfunction. The EVP Sensor is mounted on top of the EGR Valve and senses valve position. The voltage from the EVP Sensor is measured by the Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) and warns the driver through the Maintenance Indicator Lamp if a malfunction is detected.
