CATALYST AND INLET PIPE ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT KIT
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS





AFFECTED VEHICLES:
1988,1989, 1990 Model Taurus/Sable - Federal High Altitude 3.0L engines with Engine Calibration: 8-10A-R00

Catalytic Converter

Removal

1. Open hood and disconnect battery negative cable.

2. Raise vehicle.

3. Remove front and rear catalytic converter flange fasteners and bolt and spring attachment at transaxle.

4. Separate catalytic converter inlet and outlet connections.

5. Disconnect HEGO sensor.

6. Remove converter.

Installation

1. Transfer HEGO sensor to new catalyst assembly.

2. Loosely install catalyst to resonator using a new gasket.

3. Connect HEGO sensor.

4. Install converter and exhaust pipe assembly to manifold connections.

5. Loosely install bolt, nut and spring to converter and transaxle.






6. Align exhaust system to specification. Starting at front of system, tighten all nuts and bolts to specification as shown in illustration.

7. Lower vehicle and connect battery negative cable.


AUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS DECAL






The preprinted Authorized Modifications Decal shown is provided in the parts kit.

^ Insert your P & A Code and date and attach the Authorized Modifications Decal to a clean surface on the fan shroud.

^ Place the clear overlay on the decal.
