Emissions Recall 93E47 - Exhaust System Catalyst Replacement on Certain 1988/89/90-Model Taurus/Sable Cars in Federal High Altitude Locations

AFFECTED VEHICLES
1988/89/90-model Taurus/Sable cars equipped with 3.OL engines having calibration code 8-10A-ROO at Federal high altitude locations.

REASONS FOR RECALL
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Ford have conducted in-use tests on some of the affected cars and have determined that they may be releasing exhaust emissions levels which exceed Federal standards at high altitudes.

SERVICE ACTION
Cars returned for service will have exhaust system catalysts replaced at no-charge to owners.
