Disassembly and Assembly of Subassemblies

ASSEMBLE FORWARD GEAR TRAIN

Exploded View Of Forward Gear Train Assembly:

1. Assemble forward clutch to reverse/high clutch positioning No, 5 thrust washer between them.
2. Assemble forward planet gear carrier to internal gear with needle bearing thrust washer No. 7 between them.
3. On models with 4.0L engine, position No. 6 thrust bearing assembly on gear carrier.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to needle cage, ensure it is installed as shown in the Exploded View Of Forward Gear Train Assembly image.

4. On models except 4.0L engine, position No. 6 integral thrust washer on forward planet carrier hub.
5. On all models, install front planet assembly into forward clutch.
6. Position needle bearing washer into forward planet gear carrier and install clutch hub and sun gear.
