Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 5 Stop Light Switch Replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect wiring from switch.
3. Remove locknut, then the switch from brake pedal support, Fig. 5.
4. Reinstall switch and locknut, then adjust switch as follows:
a. Connect ohmmeter across switch terminals.
b. Rotate switch toward brake pedal until ohmmeter indicates infinite resistance.
c. Rotate switch toward brake pedal an additional 1/2 turn, then tighten locknut and reconnect wiring.
