Timing Belt: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 12 Camshaft & Crankshaft Valve Timing Marks:

1. Align crankshaft pulley timing notch with TDC mark on timing belt cover tab.
2. Remove timing belt upper cover.
3. Camshaft timing marks should be aligned, Fig. 12. If camshaft timing cannot be viewed, rotate crankshaft pulley one revolution, aligning notch with timing cover TDC mark.
4. If camshaft timing marks are aligned, the camshaft is properly timed to the crankshaft. If camshaft timing marks are not properly aligned, refer to TIMING BELT procedure.
