EGR Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation

On 2.2L/4-133 turbocharged models, the EGR valve position sensor provides feedback to the ECA reflecting the EGR valve position and therefore, and indication of exhaust flow into the engine. The (EVP) sensor also signals the ECA in the event of an EGR electrical circuit malfunction. On California models, the non-turbocharged engine also uses an EVP sensor for EGR electrical circuit malfunction detection only. The EGR valve position sensor is located on the EGR valve.
