Parking Pawl: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Thread plug using a 3/8 inch national coarse tap. Tap has to be bottoming-type.
2. Position a nut over lug to act as a spacer. Hole in nut has to be larger than the diameter of the plug. With spacer in position, install a nut on a 3/8 X 16 national coarse bolt and thread bolt into plug.
3. To remove plug, thread nut installed on bolt downward against spacer nut.
4. Remove parking pawl/band anchor pin using a magnet. Tight fit between components may make it necessary to work parking pawl and band strut up and down while removing pin.
5. Remove parking pawl and anchor from case.

INSTALLATION
1. Position parking pawl and band anchor in case. Band strut is positioned closest to pump housing end of transaxle.
2. Install parking pawl/band anchor pin in case.
3. Position and seat plug in case.
