Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Exhaust Gas Oxygen (EGO) Sensor Replacement:






REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Oxygen (EGO) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

4. Raise the vehicle.
5. Using a suitable wrench, remove the EGO sensor.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the EGO sensor. Tighten it to 22-36 lb. ft. (29-49 N-m).
2. Lower the vehicle.
3. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield and attaching bolts. Tighten the bolts to 69-95 lb. in. (8-11 N-m).
4. Connect the EGO electrical connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
