Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

Before adjusting the throttle position sensor, verify that idle speed and ignition timing are adjusted to specifications.

NOTE: Do not adjust the throttle stop screw at the throttle lever. this is adjusted at the factory and should not be tampered with. Doing so may result in damage to the throttle body.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle position sensor.

3. Insert the appropriate thickness gauge between the throttle and the adjustment screw, and check for continuity between the terminals. Use the following chart to determine the need for adjustment.

4. If necessary, adjust the throttle position sensor by rotating the throttle position sensor in the necessary direction.
5. Connect the throttle position sensor connector.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
