Excessive Odors - Fuel, Emissions

Vehicle has excessive "rotten egg" smell. Raw fuel (gasoline) can be smelled. Excessive odors do not necessarily indicate excessive emissions.

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION


Faulty purge valve, liquid 1. Check Evaporative system under
fuel in charcoal canister, TESTING PROCEDURES.
fuel tank vent system blocked, 2. Check Evaporative System electronic controls.
poor seal on gas cap Refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS.




PCV valve plugged or stuck Check PCV system under
PCV hose blocked or plugged TESTING PROCEDURES.



Contaminated catalyst Check for missing or worn
fuel fillpipe restrictor

under DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
