EGR Valve: Service and Repair




REMOVAL

WARNING: EGR components transport hot exhaust gases. Contact with hot EGR components may cause severe burns. Wear protective gloves or allow the vehicle sufficient time to cool.


Pressure Feedback EGR Components:






1. Loosen supply tube retaining nuts at both ends.
2. Disconnect the EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor hose from the EGR supply tube.
3. Disconnect the EGR Vacuum Regulator hose from the EGR Valve.
4. Remove the EGR Valve retaining bolts and then the valve.
5. Remove the EGR supply tube.
6. Remove the EGR supply tube exhaust manifold adapter/orifice.

INSTALLATION

NOTE:
Lightly oil all bolts and threads prior to installation.

1. Install the EGR supply tube exhaust manifold adapter/orifice into exhaust manifold noting correct orientation. Tighten to 35-65 Nm (26-48 lb-ft).
2. Install the EGR supply tube to the adapter. Do NOT tighten.
3. Install the EGR valve and the new gasket. tighten the supply tube retaining bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb-ft).
4. Tighten the EGR supply tube retaining nuts to 35-65 Nm (26-48 lb-ft).
5. Install the PFE hose to the EGR supply tube.
6. Install the EVR hose to the EGR Valve.
7. START and idle the engine, while inspecting for exhaust and/or vacuum leaks.
