Disassembly and Assembly of Subassemblies
ASSEMBLEInstalling Thrust Washer No. 7D428:
1. Lubricate and place thrust washer onto intermediate brake drum.
2. Install forward clutch onto intermediate brake drum by rotating until seated fully.
Needle Bearing Assembly Installation:
3. Lubricate and install needle bearing assembly onto intermediate brake drum and forward clutch assembly. Ensure notched inner race is facing up.
Thrust Washer No. 7D090 Installation:
4. Grease plastic thrust washer No. 7D090 and place onto forward clutch hub.
5. Place forward clutch hub into intermediate brake drum and forward clutch assemblies.
Thrust Washer Installation On Forward Planetary Carrier:
6. Grease thrust washer and place onto forward planetary carrier.
7. Place forward planetary carrier into assembly.
Needle Bearing Assembly Installation On Forward Carrier Assembly:
8. Lubricate and install needle bearing assembly into forward carrier assembly, noting the following:
a. Ensure notched inner race surface is facing up.
9. Align input shell notches with intermediate brake drum lugs, then install input shell onto assembly by rotating until seated fully.
Installing Needle Bearing Assembly No. 7F374:
10. Install needle bearing assembly No. 7F374 into front end of forward clutch assembly.
Clutch Replacer Tool Installation:
11. Install tool as shown, in the Clutch Replacer Tool Installation image, and proceed with transmission assembly.
