Drive Belt: Service and Repair

BELT ROUTING

Refer to Fig. 6 for serpentine belt routing.

BELT, REPLACE

Removal

1. Using a 3/8 inch drive ratchet or breaker bar inserted in automatic tensioner, pull tool toward front of vehicle.
2. While releasing belt tension, remove drive belt from tensioner pulley and slip it off remaining accessory pulleys.

Installation

1. Route belt as outlined under BELT ROUTING.
2. Using a 3/8 inch drive ratchet or breaker bar inserted in automatic tensioner, pull tool toward front of vehicle.
3. While holding tool, slip drive belt behind tensioner pulley and release tool.
4. Ensure that all V-grooves make proper contact with pulleys.

TENSIONER, REPLACE

1. Remove accessory drive belt as outlined under BELT, REPLACE.
2. Remove automatic tensioner mounting bolt.
3. Remove tensioner from engine.
4. Reverse procedure to install.
