Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

Inlet Air Temperature Control System:





REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery terminal and set aside.
2. Mark and remove vacuum hoses to bi-metal sensor in air cleaner cover.
3. Remove closure hose from air cleaner outlet tube and rocker arm cover.
4. Loosen air cleaner outlet tube clamps from air cleaner cover and throttle body. Remove outlet tube.
5. Disconnect electrical connector to Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS).
6. Remove two air cleaner cover retaining screws. Lift edge of cover up slightly and pull away from air cleaner assembly. Remove air filter element.
7. Reach inside air cleaner tray and disconnect air intake tube.
8. Remove one air cleaner tray retaining bolt.
9. Remove air cleaner tray.


INSTALLATION

1. Clean and install air cleaner tray into position aligning locator tabs and bolt hole.
2. Install one air cleaner tray retaining bolt.
3. Install air intake tube into air cleaner tray. Ensure tube is "snapped" in.
4. Install new or original air filter element.
5. Install air cleaner cover assembly.
6. Connect premarked vacuum lines to bi-metal sensor in air cleaner cover.
