Evaporator Core: Service and Repair



1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge refrigerant system.
2. Remove evaporator housing as previously described.
3. Remove ten clips securing upper housing to lower evaporator housing, then remove upper housing.
4. Remove attaching screws and thermostat. Pull sensing tube from between evaporator core fins as thermostat is removed.
5. Remove evaporator from lower housing and tube insert from between inlet and outlet tubes.
6. Remove staples securing capillary tube insulator over expansion valve capillary tube and suction tube, then remove clamp securing expansion valve capillary tube to suction tube.
7. Disconnect evaporator tube fitting and remove evaporator valve.
8. Reverse procedure to install, using new O-rings.
