Heater Core: Service and Repair



1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove I/P as described under ``Instrument Panel, Replace.''
3. Remove air distribution plenum as follows:
a. In engine compartment, disconnect heater hoses.
b. Disconnect wiring from blower motor and blower resistor.
c. Disengage wiring harness and antenna lead from routing bracket on front of air distribution housing.
d. Loosen clamp screw securing connector duct to air inlet housing.
e. Remove plenum attaching nuts and the plenum.
4. Disconnect link connecting two defrosters doors, then remove attaching screw located just above and to right of blower resistor.
5. Turn plenum around and remove attaching screw located just to left of blower opening, then remove clips securing two halves of plenum.

6. Separate plenum halves, Fig. 36, then remove heater core and tube insert from heater core.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
