Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust Component Locations:

REMOVAL

1. Raise vehicle.
2. Support muffler with wire.
3. Remove catalytic converter inlet pipe flange to exhaust manifold retaining nuts.
4. Remove catalytic converter outer flange to muffler retaining nuts.
5. Remove the catalytic converter from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean all mating surfaces.
2. Insert converter hanger rod into front bracket insulator.
3. Position inlet pipe to manifold and install, tightening nuts finger tight.
4. Remove wire support from muffler assembly and install muffler inlet flange to converter outlet flange. Tighten nuts finger tight.
5. Align exhaust system according to image.
6. Starting at the front of the exhaust system, torque the fasteners to the specifications shown in the image.
7. Lower the vehicle, "START" the engine, and check for exhaust leaks.
